English Language and Nordic Culture Summer School

The aim of this course is to improve the participants' English language skills at B1/ B2 level by learning about the history and culture of the Nordic countries. Lessons are designed to be interactive and include open-air lectures and visits to cultural sights (visiting historical Kadriorg and art museums, Rocca al Mare Open Air Museum, learning about Tallinn Old Town and many more).

During their free time students will be encouraged to communicate with an English native speaking tutor.

Average fee (per course):

  • 1200 euros. Includes tuition fee, study materials, certificate upon successful completion of the course, social events programme.
  • 1400 euros. Includes in addition accommodation from 24 July-07 August at the nearby Academic Hostel. (Shared room, without breakfast. Breakfast is available at TUT campus canteen from 8.30 am on weekdays). Number of rooms is limited.

Social events programme

In addition to the lectures and seminars, our summer school programme also includes various social events and study visits in order to introduce Estonian history, culture and society. Students are planned to visit enterprises connected to the development of Estonian ICT sector as well as governmental and public institutions. E.g. Estonian ICT Demo Centre, Skype, Tehnopol, Garage 48HUB, Innovation and Business Centre MEKTORY, Estonian Parliament, Stenbock House. Organised social events programme is a good tool for students not only to learn about Estonia and get to know each other but also to meet other students from Tallinn Summer School. We will offer different activities such as welcoming evening, movie nights, picnics and different outdoor activities. The social events programme is free of charge for the participants.

Cultural programme can be purchased separately for an opportunity to participate in weekend trips to different parts of Estonia to experience the charm of the Northern European nature and to breathe in the cleanest air in the world. We will be taking you to Lahemaa National Park, Viru bog, villages and manors of Lääne-Viru County, medieval Rakvere Castle, the Kuremäe Convent, the Lake Peipsi, the university town Tartu and many more.

The price for the full cultural programme package is 300 euros.

Trip to Helsinki and Stockholm will take place at the end of the last summer course from 07 August - 11 August. Being accompanied by a local student, summer school students will spend two days in each of the cities, visiting local universities and exploring culture of these capitals. The price includes ferry tickets Tallinn-Helsinki-Stockholm-Tallinn, accomodation in shared rooms/cabins, breakfast and dinner on board and public transportation. Students will be offered to stay in an Academic Hostel in Tallinn from 11th of August until their departure to home country on 12th or 13th of August.

The price for the full trip package is 590 euros.
