A GIFT TO ESTONIA: THE OPPORTUNITY TO MASTER ESTONIAN FOR ALL WHO WANT
The Integration Foundation is supporting innovative language learning programme Speakly, which was developed in Estonia to enable non-Estonian-speakers learn Estonian for free.
Speakly, which is otherwise available only via paid subscription, will from now allow all who are interested to learn Estonian free of charge, a gift from the Integration Foundation of Estonia on the occasion of the centenary of the Estonian state. The opportunity to use the service to learn Estonian free of charge will continue even after this centenary year has ended.
Speakly is a language learning program that is available on both desktop computer and mobile, and which uses a three-step system to bring learners to a very good level of communication. First: learn vocabulary; Second: write and talk; Third: practice real-life situations.
The language learning program makes uses of specialised memory techniques to allow the user retain newly acquired information. The programme knows what words the user needs to practice more and exactly when it is optimal to do so.
Learner data show that Speakly allows motivated language learners to quickly acquire the given target language. For the programme to work as intended, the user must learn at least 15 new words per day with the program, which takes on average 35 minutes per day.
