Estonia is a very open economy - the export of goods and services exceeds 95% of GDP. In 2013, export of goods totalled 12.3 billion and export of services 4.5 billion euros. The import of goods was at the same time 13.7 billion and import of services 3.2 billion euros.
Estonian main trading partners are Sweden, Finland, Russia, Germany, Latvia and Lithuania.
Machinery and equipment are the most frequently exported commodities, followed by mineral products and agricultural products and food preparations. On the services side Estonia exports mainly transport services, various travel services and business services.
The structure of imports is similar to the structure of exports – machinery and equipment make up the largest part of imports, followed by mineral products and agricultural products and food preparations. The share of services in Estonian import is ca 19% and mainly transport and travel services are imported.
