Founded in 1918, Tallinn University of Technology (TUT) is a public university with a long academic history - in 2018, TUT will celebrate its 100th anniversary.
TUT is a modern, international university providing its students knowledge and skills necessary in today’s international marketplace. TUT is the oldest and largest public university in the capital city, Tallinn and the most international university in Estonia (37% of all international degree students studying in Estonia, study at TUT). It also holds the 601-650 position on QS World University Rankings, which makes it attractive to international students as well as international teaching staff and researchers.
TUT is known as the flagship of Estonian engineering and technology education, were synergy between different fields – technology, natural, exact, social and health sciences – is created and new ideas are born. With strong emphasis on internationalization, TUT has multicultural student body (there are 1 400 international students from around 90 countries) and many international professors (10% foreign staff members). There are over 30 fully accredited international degree programmes (4 Bachelor programmes, 18 Master programmes and 10 PhD programmes) that are available fully in English.
At TUT students are offered exciting student and cultural life and the best accommodation and sporting opportunities. The TUT campus is also a home to the Estonian Information Technology College and 150 high-tech companies (e.g. Skype). The campus of TUT was chosen among the best in the world in 2014 by the Club of the Rectors of Europe. There are cooperation projects with the top 10 universities (Stanford, Technische Universität München, Delft University of Technology and KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Europe to name just a few.), scientists and companies (e.g. Microsoft, Google, Samsung and Mitsubishi etc.) of the world.
Graduates of TUT have been admitted to Oxford University, the University of London, University of Mannheim, Chalmers University of Technology, Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan, Helsinki Technical University, St. Gallen University, University of Southern Denmark and other renowned academic institutions.
