Coming to Estonia...
I was searching for Master’s programmes abroad, and came upon the Tallinn University website. The programme looked good, with a reasonable cost. I have also always been interested in this part of the world, so it seemed like an ideal situation.

Before coming here...
I knew very little, other than the geopolitcal history. Everything else has been a pleasant discovery.

Student life in Estonia...
Here, many more of my classmates are working full-time. It is interesting to see how thye manage all of their responisibilities. Also, in Canada, there is much more academic debate in the classroom setting, so this has been an interesting adjustment. Here, the students talk less, which makes for a different dynamic, not better or worse, just different.

Studying in Estonia...
I am here to excel. I want to not only complete my Masters, but to have as many possible options for a PhD proramme afterwards.

The best things for me...
As a person from a small town on a small island, studying here has given me a fabulous opportunity to explore the world and interact with different cultures that I never could have experienced without coming here.

I would tell other students in my home country...
Come! Enjoy!!

While being away from my home country, I miss the most...
My family, of course, and American Football.

Studying abroad is...
I think, for a person in my field especially, you can only learn so much about the world from books and screens. To understand the world, you have to immerse yourself in other cultures. It is sometimes the only way to get to know your own culture - when you are looking at it from the outside.

My future...
I will complete my PhD, and then who knows?

The last thing I want to say...
Get out and see the world!! You’ll love it.
