Estonian universities welcome students from Ukraine

25.03.2022

Since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, Estonian universities have been actively engaged in supporting Ukrainian students and preparing for the reception of refugees from Ukraine.

Today, all Estonian universities are ready to admit Ukrainian youth in the new academic year. The admission of the Ukrainian students is based, as always, on academic ability. And the students who were forced to drop out of university in Ukraine will be helped to transfer credits.

Currently, there are 274 Ukrainian students studying at 10 different Estonian universities. They all are exempted from tuition fee for the spring semester 2022. Several universities have already decided to also exempt them from tuition fee for the autumn semester 2022. There is a possibility for them to apply for needs-based support.

Also all Estonian universities have set up a scholarship funds to help Ukrainian students. Contributions to these funds are expected from the people from the universities, alumni and other Estonians. Some universities also offer current Ukrainian students possibility to take academic leave.
